Sacred Death
Honouring the journey through warp and weft…
‘Burial blankets’ are beautifully woven shrouds to wrap and accompany a body in burial or cremation. They are woven in honour as companions of softness and beauty, cocooning the body as it returns to Earth once more. They are each a woven gratitude for the embodied cycle of Life lived.
These blankets carry hand-spun intentions within warp and weft. They are simple yet beautiful, and dyed with plants who offer medicine to this time of traversing.
Every fibre and thread of the woven ‘Burial Blanket’ can safely return to the soil of Earth, making an offering and gift of nutrients as they compost down. They are perfect for a more ‘Ecological/ Green Burial’ working well with willow coffins.
I also create clay ‘Burial pots’ these are created with the intention to carry the prayers of the friends and family with the soul who journeys on. These prayers can be written and placed inside the pot, they can be whispered in or sung in and then buried alongside the body or placed in the Earth or Ocean to travel on.

Each weaving is unique, made slowly and intentionally with dyes, fibres and rituals guided by the intention of celebrating life through honouring death. Below are my current prices, which include materials and the time I spend in both the physical and energetic creation of each ‘Burial Blanket’.
Choosing the size
A Burial blanket is made to be worn as a blanket over the top of a beloveds body, offering softness, beauty and blessings as well as companionship to the Body as it returns to Earth.
They need to measure 80cm longer than the Body when lying flat.
These can be woven with me as part of ones own sacred dying process, or as a way to meet what arises as a loved one is passing. Together, held by the Loom, we can explore what wants to be acknowledged through warp and weft. Please reach out via the contact page if this is something you are interested in.
