Weaving the selkie skin
An in person journey spread over 8 weeks, working with Cauldron
Spindle and Loom to create your own blanket of belonging, your own
medicine shawl, your own Selkie Skin.
This is a 1-1 in person offering taking place at my home studio close to
Bristol.
During our time together we will work with the crafts of Natural dyeing,
Spinning and Weaving to create a shawl which honours a time of
transformation in your life, a rite of passage.
This could be retrospectively honouring your Menarche, it could be to
acknowledge your passage into Matrescence, it could be a holding for
you along your Menopause journey, it could be to celebrate a Birth, or to
honour a Death.
For whichever time you are meeting in your life I will gently guide you to
create natural dyes working with plants and trees who make themselves
known to you, to blend wools with a drum carder, spin yarn on a drop
spindle, warp the loom and weave your shawl. I work with the craft in a
ceremonial way, which honours our Ancestors, and the Animate Earth
we live with and ones journey here.
Throughout our time together I will bring in Animist rituals which have
been passed to me through my teachers along this woven path. I will also
include gentle grounding meditations.
I work with a clear framework for our time together and also intuitively
within that, and so the way I work with each individual will vary, but my
intention always remains the same, which is to hold a safe, well paced,
and welcoming space for you to honour your journey and be held by the
weaving process.
During the 8 weeks we will meet once a week and you can expect the days to run from 10-3pm, a simple lunch of vegetarian/Vegan soup will be provided, along with herbals teas, and snacks. I have space on either a Monday or a Thursday to book for the 8 week duration.
The monetary exchange for this covers the cost of all the materials needed to create your shawl, plus lunch, teas, snacks, and my 1-1 presence and guidance with you for the 8 week journey.
Below is 3 payment options, and I invite and trust you to pay whichever option aligns with you and your income. Payment spread over 4 instalments is welcome, but payments must be complete by the time you begin the journey.
Once payment is received I accept this as commitment to your Journey and I am then unable to offer refunds, unless in the unlikely event I need to cancel then I will offer a full refund. If you are unwell and unable to attend a date, I am able to be flexible with finding an alternative date to make up for the one missed.
