Blankets & Shawls

Fire Shawl

A woven dance of fire, of ashes and of flames. Created as a commission with a strong intention to hold its wearer through times of transformation, to keep them warm through any storm. This shawl was woven on the last full moon at Winter Solstice. Weaving in the promise of the returning light and the beautiful darkness of a long winter’s night, kissed by a bright moon. Colours lent by Madder root and skin of Onion. Fibres lent Wild forest silk moths, by Grey Corriedale, Black Welsh Mountain, and White Falkland Sheep.

A New Dawn

Wasp

A woven meeting with Wasp, the ancient strikingly striped being who offers a fierce protection to this shawl’s wearer.

Colour lent by skin of Onion, Fibre lent by Black Welsh Mountain Sheep.

Beautiful bones

A shawl born from a death. An honouring of the cyclical nature of life and the beauty of bones.

Colour lent by Madder root, Fibres lent by Jacobs Sheep.

Ceremonial Blanket

A ceremonial blanket for healing, hand spun and dyed with the colour lent by Madder's root, Onion's skin, and heartwood of Logwood tree. Woven over the days of a wild storm to the sound of howling wind. A silver warp at the core inspired by the full moon that was shining in the nights before. A blanket that holds both stillness and silence and howling wildness in warp and weft.

This was woven as a commission piece to be used in plant ceremonies. A tarot reading offering another story into this weave...
